Stained Glass Workshop: Create your own Stained Glass Artwork! Three Four-hour Classes
Learn the fundamentals of Stained Glass using the copper foil (Tiffany) method to complete a small panel of 20-40 pieces from start to finish!
Class Fee - $200 for experienced students.
Course Objectives: Students will learn about stained glass and how to manipulate the glass to create an artwork that will be cut, ground, and soldered into one coherent piece. Students will use the process of pattern transfer, cutting glass, and grinding individual pieces to fit their design. They will the utilize the copper foiling method, handling a soldering iron, and cleaning the glass. Students will leave the Workshop with a project of stained glass art of their own creation.
Instructor provides: paper, tracing or carbon paper, pencils, tape, glue stick, scissors, rulers, gloves, glass cutter, running pliers, breaker/grozing pliers, cutting oil, pattern books, grinders, solder and soldering iron, cleaners, lead came for border.
All glass is sold by the instructor at reduced pricing.
Day one:
Discuss the concept of Stained Glass. Instructor to provide information sheets about the process and types of stained glass projects.
Students decide on the design and type of project they want to create.
Students draw their pattern and carbon copy it. They cut out the templates of each pattern piece, pick glass colors, learn how to transfer patterns,and cut glass from sheet glass.
Students start to grind pieces into the correct shape to fit their pattern.
Day two:
Students continue grinding pieces of glass.
Students clean each piece of glass.
Students start the copper foiling process.
Day three:
Students finish copper foiling each piece.
Students learn to solder their glass pieces together on their pattern.
Students clean their project and finish with a lead came border, if needed
