FAQs
Have a question about your purchase?
If you don’t see your answer here, feel free to reach out anytime at bmueller@designsanewhouston.com.
Are all pieces made of glass?
Yes. Glass is the primary material in all pieces.
-
Stained glass is assembled using copper foil and solder.
-
Larger stained glass pieces may be reinforced and bordered with zinc came when needed for structural support.
What kind of glass is used for fused items?
I use COE 90 fusible glass.
-
Solid sheets of glass are cut, ground, and layered before being fired in a kiln.
-
Some pieces are slumped over molds to create dimensional forms.
-
Frit (ground glass in different sizes) may be applied to create texture, pattern, and depth before firing.
Is everything hand-made?
Yes.
-
All fused glass pieces are fully hand-made by me.
-
Some stained glass designs may include elements that are made separately, such as beveled components or select decorative details.
Are the fused entertaining dishware pieces food safe?
Yes. However, glass is not safe for ovens, dishwashers, or microwaves.
How do I care for fused entertaining dishware?
To protect the finish and longevity of your piece:
-
Hand wash only
-
Not dishwasher safe
-
Not microwave safe

Custom items:
-
Please allow 14–30 days for creation.
-
Timing depends on the size, complexity, and design details of your piece.
If an item you ordered is not available, I will contact you as soon as possible with next steps.
When will payment be collected?
Payment is collected at checkout using the secure payment options available on this site. If you have questions about a custom order or a special request before purchasing, please email me and I will guide you through the best next step.
Is expedited shipping available?
Yes. Expedited shipping is available for an additional charge when possible.
Can I add shipping insurance?
Yes. Because glass is fragile, insurance can be a good option for certain pieces.
You can request shipping insurance by contacting me before placing your order at bmueller@designsanewhouston.com. I will confirm the cost based on your item and destination.
Will a custom order look exactly like what I saw on the site?
Each piece is made by hand, so slight variations in shape, size, and color may occur.
These differences are a normal and valued part of handmade glass. Your piece will be unique, and these subtle variations do not affect the beauty or intended function of the work.
Can a purchase be cancelled?
I will make every effort to accept cancellations, but they must be requested before work begins, especially for custom orders.
All cancellations should be made in writing by emailing:
